Yes, sometimes I am that stupid!

Those of you that have known me my entire life are not surprised at all. Those of you that have only known me a few years... are probably shocked!! (OK, truth be known, you probably aren't shocked either! LOL) Thankfully God protects the blonde and dumb... my highlights do need a touch-up, but they apparently are still very active! Hahaha (Some of you are shocked I'm not really blonde... I must be in a tell-all mood today! LOL)

Upon cleaning out my fireplace today and beginning my Spring Cleaning routine, I noticed my huge mistake. I keep a bucket by my fireplace to dump ashes in. I could not find my metal bucket, so I used a plastic one. (I know... some of you already see where this is headed!) I was careful (or so I thought) to only put cool ashes in the bucket. I must have mis-judged one morning, because I melted the bucket to my carpet. We haven't needed a fire since the "blizzard" a few weeks ago. And the bucket didn't get dumped in the garbage, so it's just been sitting there. I will admit that after the last fire we had in the fireplace, we kept complaining of an usual smell. I convinced everyone it was just a draft coming through the vent and ignored it. Next time someone should check around better as this is not my first "fire" incident! LOL I'm amazed by my own stupidity and even more amazed that God's hand of protection continues to be upon my family. If He ever gets tired of walking around behind me and keeping us from doom... I'm in BIG trouble. I'm thankful His grace is sufficient and ever present for eternity!

Now, I must go search sale papers for a decorative log holder/fireplace tool holder/ something or other that will fit nicely over that hole in the carpet and look like it belongs there! LOL ;)
